This week in class has been full of exciting learning across the curriculum. In science, we explored freezing and boiling points, carrying out investigations and discussing how temperatures affect materials. In history, we created fact files about Ancient Egyptian gods, including Anubis. Did you know that Anubis was the god of mummification and the afterlife and was often shown with the head of a jackal? In computing, we continued learning about the parts of a computer, focusing on the roles of ROM and RAM. Basketball has remained a success, with pupils practising how to protect the ball from a defender. In English, we have begun writing setting descriptions, which are already brilliant pieces of writing that paint a picture in the mind of the reader.

We have had an absolutely fantastic week in Class 3, with the highlight being our amazing school trip to Truro Museum on Wednesday to support our learning about Ancient Egypt. The children were brilliantly engaged as we explored pharaohs and the fascinating mummification process. Did you know the Ancient Egyptians believed the brain was useless and that the heart was responsible for who you were and the decisions you made? The children were fascinated by this! Behaviour throughout the trip was excellent, and the children represented the school superbly. We were lucky enough to view real Ancient Egyptian artefacts, including flint tools, amulets (lucky charms) and beautifully decorated pots. We also learned about the many gods the Ancient Egyptians worshipped and discovered just how greedy and expensive their beliefs and rituals could be.
In Science, we carried out an exciting investigation into melting points. We tested gummy bears, white, milk and dark chocolate, cheese, mozzarella and butter. Surprisingly, mozzarella had the highest melting point, while butter melted the fastest!
In Maths, both year groups are moving into our new unit on length and perimeter.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support, and a special thank you for helping get the children into school earlier on Wednesday so we could fully enjoy our day out.

This week in Class 3 has been a very positive one. We welcomed two sets of visitors on Monday and Wednesday who spent time observing our Maths lessons and general morning work. They were delighted with the children's effort, positive attitudes to learning and the progress they are making across the curriculum.
In PSHE, we have been exploring why it is important to have dreams and goals for the future. The children reflected thoughtfully on their own aspirations, creating "dream leaves" to represent what they hope to achieve.
Our History learning has continued with a focus on Ancient Egypt, where we have begun discussing what makes an Ancient Civilisation and locating Ancient Egypt on a map.
In Maths, Year 4 have been learning the short written method of multiplication, while Year 3 have moved on to division using a part-whole model for support.
In Science, we investigated how water particles behave when heated and cooled.
In Computing, we are learning about the different parts of a computer and finally in PE, we are developing skills in Netball and Basketball.
This week in Class 3, we have started an exciting new English scheme called Grammasaurus. Over the coming weeks, we will be developing our setting descriptions of jungles, focusing on key skills such as using cliff-hangers, short sentences for impact, and vivid similes to engage the reader.
In computing, we have begun our unit The Journey of a Computer, learning about the different inputs and outputs of a computer and how information is processed.
Our history learning has taken us back to Ancient Egypt, where we have investigated fascinating archaeological finds, including a canopic jar, a sarcophagus and the Rosetta Stone, helping us to understand what these artefacts tell us about life in the past.
In science, we are learning about states of matter and exploring how particles are arranged in solids, liquids and gases.
We also welcomed visitors this week, who were delighted by the high quality of maths learning, as well as the excellent behaviour and positive attitudes to learning shown by Class 3 and across the school.

This week, Class 3 have been very busy and proud of their learning. We finished our geography topic on Antarctica and were amazed by our pavilion models made from lollipop sticks - they looked incredible and showed fantastic creativity. In science, we completed our learning about electricity in style by taking on our final 'hot task', and the children performed particularly well. In PSHE, we explored making assumptions, learning how first impressions can often be wrong, and in a seperate lesson we also discussed how to stay safe online.
Thank you to all families for your continued support this term. It has been a really successful term for the children's learning.
Please see the top of this page for information about what we will be learning about next term.

We've had a week of Christmas performances, and everything has gone smoothly! The children have put great effort into learning their lines and preparing for their roles, and it has been good to see their hard work come together on stage. We would also like to thank parents for their support at home in helping the children practise and feel confident. Their involvement has made a noticeable difference. We appreciate everyone's contribution during this busy time.

We've had another fantastic week in Class 3! The children have been working incredibly hard, especially as we've continued to focus on rehearsals for our upcoming play. A huge thank you for supporting them with learning their lines at home - it has made a real difference. Their confidence has grown so much, and rehearsals have gone brilliantly. We are all very excited to perform for you next Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
In Science, the children took part in a fascinating investigation into conductors and insulators. They tested a variety of materials within an electrical circuit to see whether the bulb would light up. One of the most exciting moments was when we held hands in a big circle to find out whether humans can conduct electricity - and we discovered that we can! Our special device buzzed when the circuit was complete and stopped whenever someone broke the chain. The children loved seeing the science in action.
In Computing, we continued developing our understanding of databases. This week we began using Excel, learning how spreadsheets can store information and help us create simple graphs. The children have engaged enthusiastically with this new skill.

What a fantastic week it has been! We were very lucky to take part in the sports competition at Callington College, where the children enjoyed both multiskills and rugby. They represented the school brilliantly and took on new challenges with enthusiasm. A huge thank you to the college and their students for hosting us and giving everyone such a brilliant opportunity.
Back at school, excitement is building as we have started practising the lines for our upcoming performance. The children are doing an amazing job learning their parts, and this will really step up next week when we head down to the village hall for a series of rehearsals.
In our curriculum learning, we have continued exploring electricity in science, investigating whether circuits will work depending on whether they are complete or incomplete. In PE, we are continuing to develop our skills in handball, focusing this week on how to defend effectively.
In PSHE, we looked at the important topic of bullying and discussed real case studies, sharing our thoughts and ideas. The children responded with maturity and sensitivity.
